Transport Description
Gilbraith (TS) Ltd provides a comprehensive and flexible haulage, distribution and warehousing service from an integrated rail and road facility in Blackburn, serving clients throughout Lancashire and the North West of England. We are only too aware of the ecological and economic cost of inefficient distribution systems so we strive to be innovative in our approach to transport requirements. Our use of rail freight for large volumes of international traffic, groupage and pallet network membership for smaller consignments, greater use of overnight movements and integrated storage/distribution facility bear testimony to this. Our modern fleet of vehicles ranges from 7.5 to 44 tonnes, providing full load haulage and palletised goods distribution, with the latter provided through the Gilbraith groupage operation and our membership of the Palletways nationwide pallet network system. Both express and economy delivery services are provided. The fleet comprises both rigid vehicles and articulated tractor units with a range of curtain sided trailers, including double deck trailers for maximum palletised load efficiency. The Gilbraith fleet also includes specialist steel coil distribution trailers. Gilbraith (TS) can trace its roots back to 1920. As one of the oldest established transport operators in the North West, today's company is based on in depth experience of the logistics industry together with an understanding of the changing needs of our customers - factors which keep us ahead of the field in ensuring customer satisfaction. We operate from our 6 acre railfreight terminal in Blackburn, providing 100,000 square feet of undercover storage space. The facility is served by EWS Railway, and provides today's integrated haulage, distribution and warehousing solutions, carefully tailored to meet the needs of 21st century local industry. Gilbraith (TS) are members of the Road Haulage Association (RHA), the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) and the Railfreight Group. In 2004, we were awarded Investors in People accreditation.Modern distribution trends have led to a huge increase in part load and small consignment traffic. Our groupage operations provide a range of services to meet our customer needs. For non urgent traffic, we can consolidate small consignments and provide a nationwide delivery service at a very competitive price. Service level is maintained whilst the cost to the customer is minimised. We also have regular weekly runs to destinations throughout the North-West, North-East and Midlands. For example, every Monday we have a dedicated vehicle delivering into the East Midlands (Derby, Nottingham and Leicester areas). Customers arrange their deliveries to take advantage of the rates we are able to achieve through planning efficiencies. Where a customer has a regular delivery which does not match our pattern, we will try to build up a run to create an extra service. For more urgent traffic our distribution solution is to use the Palletways network for next day and 3 day deliveries. This involves the consolidation of small consignments, collected during the day, into full artic loads which are delivered to a central hub, during the night.
